Periodontal disease therapy
Periodontal disease therapy
Minor cases of gum disease, known as gingivitis, are quite common. In fact, it has been estimated that 50% of adults have some form of gum disease. However, gingivitis left unmanaged can lead to loss of gum and bone support around your teeth. If this occurs, your teeth will become loose and eventually lead to teeth loss.
Signs and symptoms of periodontal disease to look out for:
- New spacing between the teeth
- Persistent bad breath
- Bleeding, inflamed and puffy gums
- Loose teeth
- Pus around gums
- Discomfort or tenderness
At Saanich Dental Group, we offer non surgical gum therapy which are deep cleanings (also known as “scaling and root planing”) to remove plaque, tartar, and harmful bacteria from under your gums and stop the progression of the disease process. Our hygiene team will discuss a maintenance plan with you to have cleanings more than twice a year to ensure optimal health.
